Make a Happy Snowman Christmas Ornament

A Happy Snowman Christmas ornament is a true symbol of the holiday season!  As we gear up for Winter time with the snow beginning to fall here in Chicago, we can’t help but think how building a snowman in the yard is a true family affair.  Seeing a finished snowman brings such great joy to children.

To bring some joy to your Christmas tree this season, I thought it would be a great idea to ask my friend Donni at TheMagicOnions.com to help us make a happy snowman Christmas ornament!

This adorable snowman Christmas ornament will be fun and easy to make with your children.  Once you’re done, he will be a cheerful addition to your Christmas tree and one that will continue to make you smile through the years knowing that you made him yourself!

Materials needed to make this snowman Christmas ornament:

– Glass Orb (found at your local craft store)
– A paint brush and white and dark brown paint (found at your local craft store)
– Orange Sculpey clay (found at your local craft store)
– A needle (found at your local craft store)
– Glue (found at your local craft store)
– Bright Christmas Ribbon Hemp string (found at your local craft store)

Here’s How to Make this Snowman Christmas Ornament!

Paint the glass orb white and set it in a cool dry place for the white paint to dry. My glass orb needed two coats of white paint.

While the white paint is drying, let’s make our snowman’s nose from the orange Sculpey clay.

Roll the clay into a carrot shape.

Using the needle, make little marks on your carrot by pressing the needle into the clay.

It looks like a perfect carrot snowman nose, don’t you think?

Bake the carrot in the oven at 275 F (130 C) for 15 minutes until it is hard.

When the white paint on the orb is totally dry, we can paint our snowman’s happy face.

I used the back of my paintbrush, dipped in brown paint, to make the perfect little ‘stone’ eyes and smiley mouth.

Use the glue to stick on the hardened and cooled carrot for his nose.

Tie the bright Christmas ribbon into a bow and, using the glue, stick it onto the snowman’s neck.
