Throwing a Super Bowl Party on February 2nd? Here are some tips to help you score big with your family and friends! Planning ahead will allow you to have fun watching the big game on Super Bowl Sunday, as the Denver Broncos battle the Seattle Seahawks in pursuit of the Vince Lombardi Trophy.
Here are the Top 5 Super Bowl Party Must-Haves for a Successful Bash
If you follow these top 5 tips, your Super Bowl Party will be talked about long after the final play of the football game.
5 – Get Your Game Face On
While you and/or your guests may not be Denver Broncos fans or Seattle Seahawks fans, a Super Bowl Party is about gathering to watch a good football game. Prepare for game day by wearing your favorite team jersey and encourage your guests to do the same. Just the act of getting dressed in a football jersey will help you put on your game face. Or, if you don’t have a jersey, wear your favorite team’s colors or the colors of the team that you hope will win the big game. And if you are really feeling crazy, do some creative face painting!
4 – Show Your Team Spirit
The Denver Broncos team colors are orange, navy and white and the Seattle Seahawks team colors are college navy, action green and wolf grey. An inexpensive way to induce excitement in your guests when they walk in the door is to have the team colored paper streamers hanging across the ceiling or walls, or brightly colored team balloons for a burst of color. These can be purchased at your local party store or card shop.
If you’d like to get your young children involved in adorning the house for your Super Bowl Party, buy colored construction paper in the team colors, cut strips and have the kids make a garland chain, gluing the ends together and then hanging those up on the walls or across the ceiling. Kids love a good craft project, and this could keep them occupied while you work on your menu.
3 – Make Sure Everyone Can See The Action
The key to fun in watching the game at your Super Bowl Party is having the television be accessible to large groups of people at once, who can all comfortably see all of the action. You don’t want guests missing critical plays and being forced to watch the replay. Set up plenty of seating in a U shaped semi-circle around the big screen TV. If you don’t have enough chairs, use bean bags, gaming chairs, blankets for kids or anything else you have in the house to make floor seating comfortable for guests.
2 – Play Games That Are Easy To Execute
Do you have a mixed crowd of football enthusiasts and non-sports oriented guests at your Super Bowl Party? The best way to get everyone involved and interested in is to play games that don’t require football knowledge or skill, but just plain luck! Some games that are great for all ages are football squares and quizzes.
With football squares, you start with a grid of 100 squares and have your guests fill in their names and then randomly place the numbers 0-9 across the top and then again on the side. The winner is the one whose numbered squares represent the score of the game at each quarter. For two winners each quarter, award the reverse score numbered squares!
Quizzes are fun tidbits about the upcoming game that get filled out before the game begins. Questions such as “Which team will win the coin toss?”, “Who will score first?” and “Will the first points on the board be a field goal or touchdown?” give everybody a chance to win. In fact, most often the person who wins the quiz game knows nothing about football or the teams at all!
1 – Remember: It’s All About The Food
The absolute most important item to have when hosting a Super Bowl Party is a spread of food available to your guests. Guests love game day food and you will need plenty of it! A typical spread would include: hot wings, nachos, sliders, pizza, chips and salsa, sandwiches, peanuts and other popular finger food and appetizers. And don’t forget football themed sweet treats such as cutout football sugar cookies, chocolate covered strawberry footballs, and gridiron cupcakes.
