Make An Ornament Garland For A Beach Themed Christmas Tree
This pretty personalized ornament garland is a strand of ornaments tied together to complement a beach themed Christmas tree. You can use as many or as few as you want, and will depend on the size of the tree that you are decorating.
Supplies for Ornament Garland:
- Box of clear glass ball ornaments (we used iridescent 1 ½”)
- Sand from a beach
- Miniature shells
- Starfish beads
- Wire
- Blue paint
- Q-tip
- Piece of paper
- Spool of ribbon (depending on the size of your tree, you might want additional rolls)
- Paint marker to personalize
Step 1: Carefully remove the cap from the glass ball ornament. Bend a Q-tip in half and use it to paint the water line inside of the ornament about 1/3 of the way up. ONLY THE INSIDE BACK of the ornament, not all the way around. Lay the ornament ON ITS BACK in the ornament tray to dry, to prevent the paint from dripping. Do this for all of the glass ball ornaments you want to use in your ornament garland strand.
Important Note: Paint must be completely dry before adding the sand in, or it will stick to the paint!
Step 2: Using a piece of paper, make a funnel and pour some sand into each one of the glass ball ornaments. Fill just above the bottom of the painted water line.
Step 3: Gently drop in shells and replace the cap on the ornament.
Step 4: Thread a starfish bead on a wire and twist around the ornament cap, cutting off the ends.
Step 5: To make your beach themed Christmas tree unique, use the paint marker to personalize each of the glass ball ornaments with a beach saying or vacation destination. Here are some sayings to help you get inspired! Let dry.
Step 6: Depending on the size of your tree, thread each glass ball onto the ribbon, evenly spacing the ornaments out.
That’s it! Now you have an ornament garland that is the perfect decoration for your beach themed Christmas tree. For a brighter splash of color, paint the shells in a variety of brightly colored hues.
