Can’t Stop The Feeling That Troll Dolls Are Trendy Again With The Trolls Movie!

Troll Dolls - Troll Ornaments

Lovable and adorable, Troll Dolls are good luck charms created by a Danish woodcutter in 1959. The Trolls Movie, colorful and animated, capitalizes on their re-emergence as a trend among children.  Happy go lucky and friendly, troll dolls are sure to make you smile with their bug eyes, huge smiles and crazy, vibrantly colored hair.

Here’s a fun way to recreate all of your favorite troll characters from the Trolls movie such as Princess Poppy and Branch to decorate for Christmas or hang in your child’s bedroom. Step 1: To make Poppy, remove the cap from the clear glass ball ornament and pour in some pink paint.  Swirl it around until the entire inside is coated or cover the opening with your thumb and shake until completely coated.  Turn upside down on a paper towel and let the remaining pink paint drain out.  To make Branch, do the same except with a sea glass colored paint.

Step 2: While the paint is drying, it’s time to work on the troll dolls crazy hair!  Cut approximately 2 yards of yarn.  Place the two ends together and keep halving it until you have a length a bit longer than you will need.  Cut off a short piece of yarn and knot it tightly around the middle (Branch’s hair).  Cut the looped ends so they are free.  Then using a metal comb or felting claw, brush the yarn until it becomes less stringy and stiffer (Poppy’s hair).

Step 3: Tuck the knotted end into the glass ball and lay the hair to the side.  Replace the ornament cap.

Step 4: Tie a string through the top so that you’ll be able to hang the ornament.  Pull the hair around the cap so it is no longer visible.

Step 5: Now it’s time to make their faces.  Using the scissors, cut out ears from the felt and glue them on to the glass ball to make troll dolls.  Poppy also needs a headband made out of felt, and don’t forget her adorable flowers!
