Personalized Ornaments You Don’t Have To Hand-Write!

I love Personalized Ornaments!  For over 20 years I have been working in the personalization business and enjoy how decorations come to life when a name is written on them.  So many people are amazed at what our personalizers can do and wish they had the necessary hand-writing skills needed to creatively write their name.

I thought about it and came up with personalized ornaments just for crafters!  No need to have good penmanship to make these name ornaments for everyone in your family.  Not only are they pretty hanging on your Christmas tree, but they make really great package toppers, so you don’t have to write out tags for presents!

How To Make Wire Name Personalized Ornaments

If you are a crafter or jewelry maker, you will have some fun making these wire name personalized ornaments for everyone.  They aren’t just for Christmas either!  Make larger sized ones to hang on the wall in your child’s bedroom in his or her favorite color.  Or, make one for each member of the family and hang together as wall art.  The opportunities for personalized ornaments are endless, so get creative!

Supplies:

  • Paper
  • Marker
  • Ruler
  • Tape
  • 12 Gauge Floral Wire
  • Pliers
  • Embroidery Floss
  • Ribbon
  • Optional: Jingle Bells

Step 1: Using the marker and ruler, write out the name you want to use in cursive.  Tip: if you don’t like your cursive, go online and print out the name you want in a cursive font.

Step 2: Leaving approximately 2 inches of wire to the left, start bending the wire to make the first letter.  Once you have that letter done, tape it down to the paper and keep working.  Continue to tape as you go along and don’t worry about minor flaws in the wire.  They will be covered by the string later.

Step 3: Once you have your name finished, leave another 2 inches of wire to the right and then cut it off.  Remove the name from the paper and free it from any tape.

Step 4: Cut matching lengths of ribbon depending on how long you want your name to hang.  Knot one end of each of the ribbons and using the ends of the wire, secure them to the name.

Step 5: Tie jingle bells to the free ends of the ribbon and then tie a bow at the top.  Trim any edges.

Step 6: Tucking the end of the floss underneath where you are going to work, begin winding the embroidery floss around the wire name, being sure to cover the wire entirely.  You may want to do a couple of layers.  Leave the ends free of string.

That’s it!  Making personalized ornaments is easy and fun for the whole family.  Get embroidery floss and ribbons in everyone’s favorite colors or combine floss colors to make striped names.  Tap into your inner creativity to come up with fun combinations.  They can even be hung on the door or wall of a bedroom.  We guarantee your friends and family will love them!
