Clothespin Crafts Make Spooktacular Halloween Decorations
It’s fun and easy to do clothespin crafts with the entire family. I made Frankenstein, Mummy, Zombie and Wicked Witch Halloween decorations posed and ready for the witching hour. What a boo-tiful presentation when paired with a spooky black Halloween tree!
Supplies Needed To Make Mummy Clothespin Crafts Halloween Decorations:
- Clothespin (can be purchased at a craft store)
- Clothespin standing base ring (can be purchased at a craft store)
- Pipe cleaner cut in 1/3
- White embroidery floss
- Tacky glue
- Black marker
- Scissors
Step 1: Bend the pipe cleaner around the clothespin to make arms. Using the embroidery floss, crisscross the string around the arms and the body, securing the arms in place.
Step 2: Wind the floss around the body, aligning the strands and pushing them up so you can’t see the wood underneath.
Step 3: Continue winding the floss all the way down one leg, using the slit in the clothespin.
Step 4: When you get approximately ½ inch from the bottom, squeeze a layer of glue and wind the floss over it. Cut off the end and do the other leg. Make sure not to go all the way to the bottom or the clothespin might not fit in the stand.
Step 5: Finish winding the floss back up and cover the body.
Step 6: Wind the floss around the arms. Because the pipe cleaner has some give, you will need to do a couple of layers of string to cover the fuzz that tends to poke through.
Step 7: After you complete the arms, cover the head in glue and wind the string around the head, completely covering it. Slide your finished mummy into the wood stand.
Add a scary face using the black marker. Now you have a clothespin crafts mummy that is sure to be one of your favorite Halloween decorations!
And because just one of our clothespin crafts just won’t be enough (they’re too cute!), we have included instructions on how to make a Frankenstein, witch and zombie. I encourage you to get creative and come up with your own clothespin crafts. Your kids will love using their imaginations to come up with their own nightmarish creations. Tips For Making Witch Clothespin Crafts Halloween Decorations:
I used the orange floss for the hair and wrapped the purple floss around the fuzzy pipe cleaner to make a handle for the “broom”. I painted her legs red and white striped, alternating with the paint pens. I cut and glued a piece of black felt to her body and for the skirt, simply cut a black felt circle and made a hole in the center and slipped it on her – no glue necessary! For the hat, I cut a small circle of black felt and a triangle of black felt, put them together and glued yellow yarn to outline the hat. Her face was drawn on with a black marker.

Tips For Making Zombie Clothespin Crafts Halloween Decorations:
I used the green floss for the shirt, but left pieces hanging as if the clothing was shredded. For the pants, I used white felt and cut it in shreds and uneven lengths.
