Top 10 Green Ways to Celebrate Earth Day

Earth Day is a time to celebrate Mother Nature and give back to the environment by doing your part to recycle, repurpose and reuse. Here are the top 10 things you should do on Earth Day which is April 22nd.

On Earth Day, Recognize the Beauty of Mother Nature

Top 10 Ways to Celebrate Earth Day:

  1. Go for a long walk. Find in hiking trail and use the time to appreciate nature. Forget cell phone, iPod and other electronic devices and listen to the birds sing, waves crash and leaves rustle.

  2. Plant a tree or flowers. Giving life will help bring a back to our concrete overrun environments and you will love watching your little sapling or seeds develop with water, sun and a little TLC.

  4. Use a reusable bag. Forget paper or plastic and purchase bags that you can take on your shopping trip to the mall or grocery store. The best are bags made from recycled materials!

  5. See a natural environment. Go to the zoo, arboretum, botanic gardens, park, reservoir, beach, mountains or any other place where you can see nature at its finest and marvel at her beauty.

  6. Camp out. Grab your family and the telescope and sleep outdoors using the stars as a blanket on Earth Day. Check out an astronomy book at the library and see what constellations you can spot in the night sky.

  7. Have a picnic. Pack a picnic basket and head outdoors. Bring a ball to toss or kick and just enjoy a day in the sunshine, getting in your much needed vitamin D for the day.

  8. Do a craft. Go to the beach and collect seashells, or my personal favorite, pieces of sea glass. Do an art project with the shells, collect rocks for a natural flower bed border or use the sea glass to create a mosaic stepping stone for your backyard.

  9. Eat vegan for a day. The earth is an abundant source of nutrients and some of the best foods come from its rich soil. Celebrate Earth Day, these delicious foods and farmers everywhere who make their living from the earth.

  10. Get your hands dirty. Go berry picking, apple picking or start your own vegetable or herb garden at home in the backyard. You’ll end up enjoying the benefits of reaping what you sow.

Whatever you decide to do on Earth Day, take a few minutes to appreciate what this planet has provided mankind with and do something to get back to our country’s roots of living off of the earth and loving her bountiful fruits. Give back to the environment which has given us so much!
